What is a Doula?
A Birth Doula provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support during labor. Research has shown that the presence of a doula can significantly and positively effect a woman's birth experience. A doula compliments the role of your partner, and does not replace his valuable support. With a doula present, research shows that interventions overall are decreased by 40%, including c-sections.
A doula also provides you with informational support throughout your pregnancy, including birth planning. A doula may be just what you need to transform your birth experience into a satisfying, positive experience!
About Me
I reside in Rhode Island with my wonderful husband of six years. I'm a SAHM to three beautiful girls. I've experienced three natural, un-medicated childbirths in a hospital setting. I became interested in becoming a Birth Doula after having my first baby girl in 2006, and after attending a friends beautiful home birth, I knew this was my calling! I believe in natural birth as the safest option for mother and baby, in most cases. I provide the necessary individualized support to help my clients become confident and mentally/emotionally prepared, as well as giving them practical help during labor so that they can achieve their desired birth. I love getting to know my clients! It is my passion and privilege, to serve women through their journey of pregnancy and birth. I didn't use a doula for my first two births, and I was AMAZED at the difference when I used a doula for my third birth. You don't realize what a difference they make until you use one!

Experience:
I have supported 7 women as of 10/11, including many different labor/birth experiences: natural, induced, waterbirth, homebirth, and a planned c-section.

I look forward to seeing each woman's unique strengths and way of birthing. I am a compassionate presence, I don't give "tough love", but I also don't let my clients give up on themselves!
