Welcome to the home of RI Doula!
What is a Doula?
A Birth Doula provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during labor. Research has shown that the presence of a doula can significantly and positively effect a woman's birth experience, and be helpful to the partner's role during labor. Interventions overall are decreased by 40%, including c-sections.
Many women hire a doula to help achieve a natural birth, others just need an experienced woman to be by their side for encouragement and support. A doula may be just what you need to transform your birth experience into a satisfying, positive experience!
About Me
I reside in North Kingstown, RI, with my husband of four years and my two little girls. I'm a stay-at-home-mom and love my job! I am a trained birth doula, working towards my certification with DONA International. I have had two natural childbirths in a hospital setting. I became interested in becoming a doula after having my first baby girl in 2006, and am now pursuing it passionately after attending a friends beautiful home birth. I believe in natural birth as the safest option for mother and baby, in most cases. Women remember their birthing experiences forever, therefore the experience is as important as the outcome. All expectant mothers deserve an environment of communication, support, and nurturing care before, during, and after childbirth. Birth is amazing! The difficult and satisfying labor of love, is one of the best ways to prepare a woman for the difficult and satisfying journey of motherhood.
In short, I am passionate about all things pregnancy & birth!
